On January 20, 2025, Las Vegas Public Radio and KIOF 90.1 FM closed it's doors on the final day of being an non-commercial "educational" independent PBS public broadcaster after being driven out of business by Nevada State, County/U.S. Government officials actions/inactions. The organization turns into it's final chapter through it's transformational pivot to commercial broadcasting when it executed 47 C.F.R Section 73.1690(c)(9) Modification of Transmission Systems within the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Rules and Regulations which allows "educational" broadcasters to pivot to commercial operations through waiver on December 31, 2024.
On January 21, 2025, the 48,000 Watt FM Construction Permit/License for 90.1 FM to serve southern Nevada was cancelled and returned to the FCC as the KIOF call sign is in transition to be moved over to the new commercial station to meet the Nevada State, County/U.S. Government officials actions/inactions as seen in documents published in FCC Facility ID’s 190166 & 766038 because they wanted the organization shutdown as it's finalized to meet the censorship regime's of authoritarian control.
As of January 22, 2025, any mail being sent to the former independent PBS Public Broadcaster will be returned to the sender as the 400 S 4TH ST STE 500, LAS VEGAS NV 89101-6207 address of the radio station has been terminated. During the transformational pivot to commercial broadcasting, all mail to Las Vegas Public Radio and KIOF 90.1 FM should be forwarded to Portsonic Communications, LLC (Nevada) at 400 S 4TH ST STE 500, LAS VEGAS NV 89101-6207 while final affairs are being conducted.
KIOF will be back under it's commercial brand soon... |
